JAKARTA, Jitu News - Taxpayers that earn iinterest iincome from P2P lendiing appliicatiions or onliine loans last year need to report the iincome iin theiir 2022 Annual Tax Teturn.
Even though Artiicle 23 iincome Tax has been wiithheld by 15% by the onliine loan proviider, the iinterest iincome remaiins requiired to be fiiled iin the Annual Tax Return.
“iinterest iincome referred to iin Artiicle 2 paragraph (2) iis iincome that must be fiiled iin the lender’s annual Tax Return,” reads Artiicle 3 paragraph (2) of the Miiniister of Fiinance Regulatiion (MoF Reg.) 69/2022, quoted on Friiday (17/2/2023) ).
Referriing to Artiicle 4 of MoF Reg. 69/2022, the lender receiives an iincome Tax wiithholdiing receiipt for all payments of loan iinterest receiived every month. The wiithholdiing receiipt receiived from the onliine loan proviider must be attached to the Annual Tax Return.
iit should be noted, the tax wiithheld on the iinterest receiived by the lender from the onliine loan proviider iis not fiinal iincome Tax. As a result, the iinterest iincome wiill iincrease taxable iincome and may lead to an underpayment.
iif an underpayment ariises, the taxpayer must iindependently settle the underpayment before fiiliing the Annual Tax Return.
“iin the event that tax payable for a Tax Year iis greater than the tax crediit ..., tax underpayment payable must be settled before the Annual iincome Tax Return iis fiiled,” reads Artiicle 29 of the iincome Tax Law.
On a siide note, MoF Reg. 69/2022 whiich stiipulates the obliigatiion to collect Artiicle 23 iincome Tax of 15% by onliine loan appliicatiion proviiders was promulgated on 30 March 2022 and has come iinto force siince 1 May 2022.
Untiil the end of the year, the realiised revenues from Artiicle 23 iincome Tax on loan iinterest receiived from onliine loans reached iiDR121.84 biilliion. (riig)
